5/28/2007 Rob: Now you can all see Min, our newest feline family member. She is the last of the cats we will get for a long time, and was only taken out of necessity because a close family member was developing serious problems from her cat allergies. Min is rapidly becoming integrated into our feline-dominated society, and has actually taken the best to SnowCrash so far. This is probably because he has been hitting on her since the day she arrived, and she's beginning to find him somewhat lovable, although he gets the occasional warning growl. He just chased her around the house a few minutes ago after they finished sniffing each other in the kitchen right after I took these pictures, and while her tail was a bit puffy in the standard I'm-really-really-scared way, I'm sure she'll get used to it and be chasing him back soon.
She's fairly intelligent...enough so that her favorite way to ask to be let out of our bathroom in the mornings is to pry open and slam closed our cabinet doors under the sink. No other cat has been able to open doors like that, though SnowCrash loves slamming doors closed on cats whenever he has the chance and is feeling mischievous. Min was having some of the rather unpleasant issues with the feline plumbing that can occur when a cat is stressed or depressed, but we took her to the vet to get the worst of it taken care of, and she's improved quite a bit. She seems very happy now, and has started grooming herself with enough regularity that her fur is smooth now and all matting is gone. She loves being brushed (just like SnowCrash), so we've tried to do that regularly until we're certain her good hygiene is here to stay.
Incidentally, I know I promised some special changes to the site since we've reached our hundredth comic. They are slow in coming because I've been busy and Tania's health hasn't been as good as of late. Tania has an operation to take the metal rod out of her fused wrist coming up in a few weeks, so her medications have changed in preparation for that. We expect good things out of the operation, but she'll still need some recovery time, and it's likely going to be her that makes any design changes to the site. I'll try to get a profile page up for Min soon, but we're still discovering new things about her personality as she feels comfortable enough to show them to us. So changes are coming, albeit slowly.
