NEWS UPDATES:

5/13/2007 Rob: Sorry for the lack of a comic or update last weekend. Tania celebrated her birthday, and we've also had a friend visiting from out of town, so the temptation to slack has just been too much. We'll likely to continue to be busy since next weekend we travel to Massachusetts to visit her family and attend her grandfather's funeral. I'll try to make a comic if I can, but from our current exhaustion levels, we may just be too busy. We are planning some additional material since today marks our 100th comic, but Tania has some other website projects that are taking up her time for the moment.

We can fairly safely announce that there will be yet another addition to our cast. We can further announce that the next addition will not be a stuffed animal or an eraser. I could say more, but I'll let you draw your own conclusions for now. Before anyone worries, the new member won't be a replacement, and Sugar has made a full recovery. She is now fully back to her irritable, feisty, and secretly-evil self.

And finally, to approach the topic of today's comic, 'the monster' did indeed escape. He has been growing quite large and getting more adventurous and skilled in his explorations and escape attempts from his tank. While our out of town guest was staying in the room where Auron lives and SnowCrash hangs out in his lair, Auron had been making tapping and plopping sounds at night. Last night, the first night after our guest had gone, he made his escape. Around 4:30AM Tania awakened me, mentioning that she thought she heard a mouse. Now in any normal household, it might have indeed been a mouse, but for us it was a crayfish.

He had scaled his tank wall, escaped through the top by either lifting the heavy flap and letting himself out, or climbing through the small gap near his filter. He then crawled around the room, under his door, across the hallway, under our door, and behind Tania's desk. The world may never know how he did it, but we have put things on top of his tank to prevent another escape. I found him behind Tania's desk, climbing around in the wires connected to the back of her computer. I never knew crayfish could survive falls many times their own length and stay alive who knows how long he was out of water, but know I know (and knowing is half the battle - G.I. Joe).
